I have no idea why my blog "news space" went blank. Its not yet a new month, so...??
But, I can tell you why I haven't posted in weeks. First it was two weeks of subbing -- the same two weeks immediately before Black Belt testing in Tae Kwon Do! My NYS teacher certification is PreK thru Grade 6, which would dictate what position I could be hired for permanently in a public school, but has little bearing on where you can sub, and this is for a private school anyway, so I spent two weeks teaching 11th and 12th graders, American History, Econ., and AP Government. Way cool! The kids were so awesome. I loved being with them and I loved the whole atmosphere. I felt like a college professor for two weeks. And the topic for American History was the Vietnam War, which fascinated me. Of course, after working each day, I spent every evening at the dojang, sweating it up with a large group of antsy 7-12 year olds. Yikes, I was exhausted and crazy.
But, Black Belt testing went very well (yes, I have pics, just no time to upload them.) My friends were AMAZING! I received bouquets of flowers and gifts (yes, I have pics and thank-you's, just no time to share all the details) and such wonderful expressions of love. TKDGRRRLS, you are the BEST!
I thought I might get a tiny break after that, but the school called me in again for 2 days last week, until I begged for time off so I could prepare for Passover! I hadn't hosted seder in a very long time, and being that I keep kosher, I had to change over all of my dishes and cooking utensils and clean out the fridge and freezer and pantry and prepare the house for out-of-town relatives.... and then conduct two seders. Not really a "weekend" in the traditional sense of the word.
Monday I was back to work again. This time I'm in all week for the 2nd grade teacher, who is, unfortunately, not feeling well at all. She is a lovely lady, and her daughter-in-law is a friend of mine, so I am quite concerned for her health. She is also an awesome teacher with years and years of experience, so its big shoes I'm trying to fill for a few days.
And THAT's why I haven't posted anything here in a while! But, it still doesn't explain why my blog went blank....
P.S. Someone please tell me how women work full-time, keep themselves physically fit, take care of their kids, handle household things like repairs and checkbooks and managing the boatload of mail that comes in every day, cook, do laundry... I don't get it! And I haven't even mentioned reading or knitting or anything else....
