From Black Belt Testing...
That's Zack in his brand-new BLACK BELT. He tested back in December, and promotions were the afternoon of April's testing. He isn't choosing to go on past this point, which is fine. He set his goal to become a black belt and he worked very hard for over 3 years to achieve it and I am very, very proud of him!
That's me completing a knifehand strike.
Unfortunately, no good pictures of me doing forms or self-defense. The lighting in the gym where we test is really horrible, and while I am not a great photographer, my loving husband is even worse. Thank goodness J-Daughter was in charge of the video -- that came out pretty good!
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and affection, support, encouragement and congratulations from my husband and kids, my classmates, my friends, and especially the TKDGRRRLS! Did you ever see such gorgeous flowers in your life?
These were from my wonderful friend Margot. She is planning to test for HER Black Belt in August, and I know she will be wonderful.
These were from my friend Kristy and her daughter, Savannah, my testing partner.
I actually had to combine some of the bouquets -- I didn't have enough vases in the house. So the ones below were some from all of the TKDGRRRLS, plus a very, very special bouquet from my dear friend Kari and her daughter Caressa, welcoming me to the rank of Black Belt.
And this bouquet was from my husband and kids, and include the red carnations that Zack received with his promotion and dedicated to us.
I also received this from Joyce, who is a doll. I saw it in the movie theater when it came out and just LOVED it, and she knew how much I wanted superpowers when I was preparing for testing.
And all of this is from my knitting friend Karen -- notice the lovely giftbag, that she made herself! (She still thinks of me as her knitting TEACHER... silly Karen, you're every bit as good of a knitter as I am.) Of course, there were chocolate kisses tucked inside. What would a day of celebration and flowers be without CHOCOLATE?
Now, am I a lucky girl or what? You guys, you touch my heart and make me a better person for having all of you in my life.
